FAQ
1. Where does the race start? End?
Both Races start in the 700 block of Joplin Street, beside Memorial Hall. The 5k will start about ½ block behind the half marathon. Both races end on Joplin Street, just north of 7th
.
2. Where does the course go?
The Half Marathon course will go south on Joplin Street before turning east and going through the medical district. It will then go south toward McClelland Park and north on Schifferdecker and Black Cat Road before turning back east, meandering by the new Joplin Sports Complex. It will then weave through the Murphyburg Historical District before heading back south on Joplin Street to the finish line. The 5k will go south on Joplin Street, jog one block west to Wall Avenue, go northward through the Murphyburg Historical District and then south on Joplin Street to the finish line.
3. Is this race hilly?
The half marathon course does contain some hills, particularly around the medical district. See elevation chart on the Race/Course tab for detail. The 5k course is pretty flat.
4. Do I have to register online?
No. You can register online, by mail or during packet pickup. But please note there are no additional fees for on-line registration. THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION FOR ANY EVENT.
5. Where \ When is packet pickup?
Packet Pickup will be held on Friday, June 11th from Noon-9:00 PM at Joplin's Memorial Hall, located at 212 West 8th Street in Joplin. There will be NO packet pick-up on race day morning without prior approval of the race director.
6. Where do I park on race day?
Free parking is available n several city parking lots located near the starting line. Parking instructions will be included in your packet.
7. After I register can I switch race distances?
YES! Please email boomtownrun@yahoo.com to make any registration changes.
8. My name is spelled wrong, age is wrong, etc.
No problem! Just email boomtownrun@yahoo.com and we will make the necessary changes to the database.
9. I registered and now I won’t be able to participate; can I still pick up my shirt?
YES! Please stop by and pick up your packet, shirt and goody bag. Please make sure to return the timing device before you leave packet pickup. No shirts or medals will be mailed.
10. I won’t be able to participate; can I transfer my registration to next year?
No, we are sorry but there are no refunds and no transfers of registration to another person or until next year.
11. I have a friend who would like to volunteer, can he help?
YES! Please email Barbara Crump, bcrump@arvest.com for more information.
12. Can a friend or family member pickup my packet?
YES! Just make sure they have your confirming e-mail.
